Valentine’s Card in 5 Simple Steps

Table of Contents
Valentines card

Valentine’s Day is coming soon and with this knowledge we try to think about gifts for our significant others. Of course we can choose to travel to some romantic destination or do something fun together or spend hours on Amazon for the perfect gift. But the simplest and coolest solution is to do something by yourself. Something like a DIY Valentine’s card. Also it could be a nice addition to the main gift. So let’s start!

Materials:

Watercolor, watercolor paper or mixed media paper, and pencil.

Pencil sketch and dough line

First of all we draw with pencil a cupcake, then erase a little the first layer. After we paint a line of the dough with watercolor. I use ochre color, it could be light brown color.

Painting Cup and Cookie

After we finish the first step, start painting the cup with light pink color. I used a color called “Carmine”, I’m usually mixing it with water to make it look light pink. The same thing I’m doing with the cookie on the cupcake.

Painting folds on the cup

As we all know the cup has folds, and we will start to paint them with darker pink. I use the same color for the cup and cookie, but mix with less water to make it darker. Pay attention to the intervals between the folds. In the center of the cup the intervals will be bigger than on the edges. This will show that the cup has a round shape.

Adding shadows

Now it’s time to do shadows on the left side of the cream, cookie and under the cup. You can choose the purple color, or mix it for the shadows. I mixed emerald green with Carmine for my shadows. And of course don’t forget to paint the heart on the cookie with pink. It also has a shadow on the left side.

It’s ready! Finishing

Hurrah! The cupcake is ready! For finishing I can recommend you to write something on your card like “Love you” or “Be my Valentine”. Also you can splash a little color from your brush on your card. All this makes your card look finished without empty spaces.

Today we made a Valentine card in a very easy way. It could be a great addition to your gift and even more valuable because it was done by your hands with love.
